Perhaps a perfect conclusion to my short stay in the Lake District was capturing the Milky Way in the sky above. These were all shot with my DSLR at between ISO 1600 and 3200 with the Tokina 11-16mm F/2.8. As great as my EM-5 is, it just can't seem to handle long exposures at high ISOs. The sensor seems to get a little hot and noise is too prevalent. Since I was in my car, bringing the DSLR as well was no big deal.So at around 2.30am, still exhausted from the hiking and the canoeing, I noticed a clear starry night, and set up my tripod in the middle of nowhere to shoot. Probably not the best composition or horizon location, but since the Milky Way was visible even with the naked eye, I didn't want to miss the opportunity to capture it where I was. I also took a couple of shots of the sky over a lake. A great, albeit brief, time had in the Lakes, and a fitting reminder of what a stunningly beautiful country I live in. Rolling hills and huge lakes, wind swept and sun kissed, replete with wild and domesticated animals and no end of luscious scenery. Next stop would be Scotland...
