Spent a thoroughly fascinating day at Eagle Heights Wildlife Park in Kent yesterday, where we were treated to amazing avian displays of everything from eagles to vultures, storks and owls. The keepers were terrific at educating the spectators, and I came away feeling far more knowledgeable than when I went it! Most of the shots below are of eagles, but some of the other birds are featured too. The park also looks after some non-avaian species, including reptiles, arctic foxes, huskies and cheetah. In fact, as part of their African show, they even ran the cheetah at full speed down a track. The only other place in the world where I have seen this done is San Diego Wild Animal Park, which is a gigantic place, so full credit must go to Eagle Heights for their efforts to enable this amazing cat to exercise its design for speed. In fact, it was too fast for me to capture! I would urge everyone to go to Eagle Heights and spend a day learning and being educated about these extraordinary but all too rare species.
