The first attraction we stopped to see during our trip to the Isle Of Man was the largest functional water wheel in the world. Built in 1854, and named Lady Isabella, the Laxey Wheel truly is a marvel of engineering capable of delivering 250 gallons of water per minute. We ventured to the platform atop the wheel from where the views across the sunlit landscape were breathtaking. On the ground, we followed the Wheel's rod viaduct to a small mine shaft, before walking amongst the ruins of the old industrial complex dotted around the small river which supplied the water. The Laxey Wheel provided plenty of photographic potential as well as gracing the beautiful surrounding scenery.All the images here were taken with the EM-5.
