A rollercoaster tour of three South American countries has ended, and along with the spectacular sights, exhilarating activities and succulent food, my abiding memory will be one of endless laughter and humour amongst the lovely people we travelled with. Presented here is a brief snapshot of the trip, hopefully conveying an enticing insight into the incredible experience. We began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, spent a day in Montevideo, Uruguay, then back to Buenos Aires for another 2 days before flying on to the mighty Iguassu Falls. The waterfalls are simply too majestic and massive to capture and confine to a frame; you simply have to be there to experience them, and we did so from both the Argentinian and the Brazilian side.Mesmerised by the power of nature, we were treated to some of the forest’s beautiful inhabitants, including monkeys, marmosets and a variety of butterflies and birds. We ventured on to the quaint settlement of Paraty with its beautiful old buildings and cobbled streets. We wiled away the time surfing down sliding waterfalls, swimming at the beach and disappearing into rocks. The bruises weren’t felt until long afterwards.A cramped but no less charming sailboat took us to the island of Ilha Grande, boasting some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. To think that just a few days ago I was hiking the hills on the island before riding the turquoise waves that carried me back onto the fine sand at the shore.Last stop was Rio de Janeiro, a bustling metropolis flanked by mountains and favelas, and a stark contrast to the islands we had just left. We used our brief time here to see the main sights, take a dip in the water and sip a few caipirinha cocktails on Copacobana beach.Naturally I went along on this trip hoping to capture some nice photos. But the photographs soon became secondary to the fun and joy of the experience, and at best could only provide a small window into the memory. No photo can adequately capture the power and spectacle of one the Earth’s most prodigious waterfalls; no photo can adequately describe the ecstasy of bathing in the cool blue Atlantic after a scorching hike through a mountainous forest; no photo can possibly convey the sheer volume of laughter and fun that most of us had on this extraordinary voyage. As the days roll by I will post more photos from the individual locations. They will offer only a mere glimpse into the places we visited but I have absolutely no regrets about that. I was too busy enjoying myself to worry about the photography. The images here were taken with the Olympus EM-5 and mainly 12-40mm F/2.8 and 40-150mm F/2.8.

Wow, what an amazing experience mate.. the photos only portray a small episode of your trip and I can only imagine the enjoyment you had. Simply great photos as always but especially like the sharpness and detailed image of the marmoset and babies.
As for the tango.......... well that's what I call getting your leg over lol ☺

Thanks for another great set. I feel like I get to know a place a little bit after you have visited. I like the doors in Paraty best, then La Boca.
