Cambridge in Black And White

Yesterday my friends, Bizhan and Linda, and myself braved the freezing cold to visit Cambridge. A beautiful town which I had visited before, but my friends had not. We spent time in St Mary's Church and the incredible King's Chapel, and took in the Bridge Of Sighs and the chapel of St John's College. We also found a fascinating font of knowledge in the Whipple Museum exhibit on the history of science. I have chosen to present my images in black and white this time, hoping to showcase both the beautiful architecture so characteristic of this town, and also the wonderful patterns of light cast inside these buildings. The final image, the colour version of the first image, shows how resplendent St John's College chapel really is.All images were taken with the Olympus EM-5 and either one of the 12-40mm F/2.8 or 40-150mm F/2.8. Some of the images are SOOC Jpegs using the B+W Art Filter; some are converted from the original RAW files.

These are great images (!), both with respect to their composition and their rendering. I, too, have both of the Olympus Pro line zooms (on an E-M1) but have yet to become accomplished in using them.

Thank you, John :)

Morning, could you please email me at [email protected] about featuring one of your shots in the Olympus Magazine Readers' Gallery?
Many thanks!

Very beautiful photos, love all of them in B&W, you gave some ideas when I will travel and take some inside cathedral pictures,

Joel F.
