Buenos Aires - A Fleeting Snapshot.

The ‘City Of Fair Winds’, Buenos Aires is a dusty, noisy and beautiful city, with a searching modernity rising above its skyline of colonial architecture. Eyes descend the ornate carvings of huge window arches and elegant masonry before finally resting on a sign for a well-known coffee chain. Roads are large with enough traffic to fill it, and the city centre is thoughtfully laid out in a grid, much like New York. Navigation was easy.Eschewing the queues for buses and taxis, we walked everywhere, taking in the main plazas, the famous Recoletta Cemetery, and of course, La Boca (which I shall present photos from in a separate post).  The waterfront at Puerto Madero was also very colourful and picturesque, especially in the evening (I will present a separate post on that too.) A heaving Sunday street market on La Defensa street teemed with trinkets and leather goods, as well as tasty empanadas. Quite frankly, the blazing heat scorched my willingness to take my camera out, let alone the energy the hold it and take meaningful photos. But I managed a few. Rather than the over-processed, sweeping vistas that many photographers are seemingly slave to, I have tried to present a more intimate and varied, if fleeting, portrait of the city and the way that it impressed me. Naturally, the highlights included the asado beef, and the hype was well deserved; it was sublime. Succulent and soft; juicy and rich.A city probably better enjoyed in cooler weather, we nevertheless enjoyed the Buenos Aires and its abundant splendour. All images were taken with the EM-5.
