Animals With The OM-D

Ok, so having my Nikon DSLR absent for repairs may have been the catalyst that spurred me to pick up the Olympus OM-D EM-5. I've been, like so many others, looking for something lightweight and compact to use that doesn't make me feel like I'm hauling a yard sale up Kilimanjaro every time I'm on a photo excursion. The OM-D fits the bill. The contrast detect autofocus, while having a reputation for being fast, is not really well suited for moving subjects like animals. The 9 fps is a handy bonus, although the subject needs to be in focus otherwise it's 9 consecutive blurred images! Anyway, I needed to chillax today, and with Paradise Wildlife Park up the road, I thought I'd go and try the OM-D and get maybe get a feel for it. The last time I was there was during the winter snow. All these below were shot with either the Olympus 45mm F/1.8 or the Panasonic 20mm F/1.7, between ISOs of 200 and 3200. I'm not one of those that needs clean images at ridiculously high ISOs; grain doesn't bother me as much as not getting an image. Well, I hope you enjoy the photos below, and hopefully are impressed by what a small mirrorless camera like the OM-D can do. I was!
